Art Style
I am transitioning into coding as a career and don't want to lose my artistic style when doing so. To me, coding has always been an extension of my art. I play with it on the side. I have gone through a few phases, like web code, animation, and a short stint with java a few years ago. Godot just gave an easy medium to play with and learn from.
I have spent many years developing my art skills and choosing a style. It fits the stories that I would like to tell. Because I developed my artwork first, it isn't typical for game art. I hand draw all linework and shading. I then scan to the computer for digital coloring, much like comic book artists do. From there, my artwork is usually printed. Today, it was uploaded into a game.
The art is nowhere near finished, but it will give you a good feel for my style. I still want to add in proper animations (hand drawn of course). There is a lot to be done with the code and level design as well, but it is good enough for tonight.
I hope you all enjoy this prototype, made especially for the Pirate Jam.
